Year 12 Leadership Symposia
The Year 12 Leadership Symposium is held annually in both Victoria and Western Australia. Each Symposium brings together 18 culturally diverse students, drawn from a broad range of government and independent schools in regional and metropolitan areas. The Symposium provides a rare opportunity for young people to explore the theory and practice of good leadership. It also enables participants to reflect on personal values and matters of public responsibility, and to gain an appreciation of the importance of considered thinking and perspective in decision making.
The four day seminar explores themes such as ethics and the individual; the individual in society; and social justice and leadership. The process is one of shared enquiry through moderated, roundtable discussion based upon the ideas presented in a set of carefully selected readings.
The Symposium is organised in collaboration with Curtin University of Technology and Christ Church Grammar School in Western Australia, and with Monash University and St Catherine's School in Victoria.
